Review of my first ASICS women running shoes

As I told in my very first blog post here at ToBecomeARunner.Com, I had to learn by my mistake that good and correct shoes are very important when you start to run. And I got help in a sports shop to pick out my new pair of running shoes. I ended up with my first Asics Women running shoes.

My first Asics

Choice of shoe

Brand: ASICS

Model:Gel-Zone 4 Women’s Running Shoe

Official product description: The Asics Gel Zone 4 Ladies Running Shoes have a breathable mesh upper with supportive synthetic overlays to keep your feet cool but supported. The rearfoot GEL® cushioning absorbs shock and allows for a smooth gait transition. A supportive shoe which includes a lightweight Trusstic System® in the sole and the DuoMax Support System midsole which is positioned to enhance support and stability. The SpEVA midsole material improves bounce back and decreases midsole breakdown. The ComforDry Sockliner provides cushioning and anti-microbial properties and can be removed to accommodate a supportive insole. AHAR High Abrasion Rubber on the outsole offers exceptional durability.

My personal experience and opinion

I only have one earlier experience with buying a pair of running shoes, and that was not a good experience. So this time around, I didn’t feel so sure about how this should work out. But I got happily surprised already from start!

My Asics Gel Zone 4 runnings shoes have been a perfect match from the first steps. They have a really good fit for my feets. Enough support and good cushioning for my over pronation to repair my hurting knees after my beginner shoe mistake. The sole on the shoes has given a reliable grip on the ground at runs both on road and trails, as long as it’s not too snowy or icy.

In winter times it can be a bit cold on the toes with the synthetic overlay that is very breathable. But usually, that is only for a start, before you get some heat up in your body. So for me, that has an ability to become very warm when exercising, the breathable overlay is only an upper hand for the shoes.

About the look and color, I did go with the black choice. A neutral option because I knew that I would come to add colors and reflectors on the upper body through the wintertime, so didn’t mind some more neutral shoes to match up.

I have now been using them for a couple of months and I am very happy with the choice of this shoes as my first pair when getting started out with the running. It is for sure a shoe priceworthy for the medium price brackets, and a good beginner shoe.
